Reports to: Systems Controller/Administrator
Main objectives: Control and direct the operation of computers and peripheral computer equipment to ensure their efficient use.
Typical functions and responsibilities:
- Check that all required equipment such as tape units, printers and consoles are available and ready for computer operations.
- Load the programme and data before commencement of computer "runs".
- Control the operating and recovering procedures.
- Monitor the progress of the programme, take appropriate action if a problem occurs and bring to the attention of management.
- Maintain records of computer operations, such as running time and number of completed runs.
- Maintain established security policies.
Typical qualifications and experience: A reasonable standard of secondary education, has one to three years experience in the position and has a sound knowledge of data preparation, data control and computer operation techniques. |
